Introducing D4's new technical director: Ben Harpin

The healthiest teams are those that are constantly growing and improving, and in that light we're incredibly pleased to be able to welcome Ben Harpin as D4's new technical director. Ben brings with him more than five years' experience in software development, and as anyone who has previously worked with him can testify, he's one of the very best there is.

With a director of Ben's talents on board we're confident that we can continue to build upon the success that D4 has enjoyed so far – with his help we’ll be stepping D4 up to the next level as a company. He's not someone to settle for the status quo and brings a wealth of creativity, talent and drive that matches with the ethos we've tried to cultivate within D4 as a company.

Ben and Daniel first met as colleagues at Contigo (now Trayport Contigo), with Ben joining shortly after completing his Masters in Advanced Computer Science at the University of Birmingham — it was in fact Daniel who interviewed him and gave him the position at Contigo, and as a result his appointment at D4 didn't have to be quite so formal.

It was our good fortune to hear that Ben was looking for a new opportunity, and after talking through our vision for the future of the company and the long-term plans we have for D4, he agreed to come and join us — and we're very glad that he did. As technical director he'll be taking responsibility for setting the technical direction of the company and helping to turn customer's feature requests into reality.

"People of the calibre of Ben are few and far between," says D4 Founder and Managing Director Daniel Thompson. "I'm thrilled that he's agreed to come and help us build on D4's success, increasing the scope of our ambitions and improving the quality of our output even further. He's one of those people that inspires those around him."

"When Daniel told me what he had planned for D4 it seemed like the perfect fit and I had to get involved," says the newly installed Ben, who arrived at his new desk 2 weeks ago. "I'm excited to see where we can take this company in the future and I'll be working as hard as I can to make sure we get there. The opportunities for us are almost limitless."

The team is changing but our goals remain the same — we'd love to hear from you if we can help you meet yours.
