Daniel's a finalist for BYPY

The Birmingham Young Professional of the Year (BYPY) awards showcase some of the best and brightest talent in the city — and we're hugely excited to announce that D4's Founder and Managing Director Daniel Thompson has been named a finalist.

To be in a list of such innovative and creative young professionals is a proud moment both for Daniel and D4. The judges are set to announce their decision at the awards event on the 14th of May, and we'll be there together with some of our customers.

The BYPY awards celebrate rising stars in the fields of finance, HR, law, marketing and communications, property and construction, and technology (which is where we fit in). The event is organised by BPS (Business Professional Services) Birmingham, devoted to connecting, promoting and representing the BPS sector in our city.

This year's judging panel is led by Birmingham Airport chief executive Paul Kehoe and also includes 2014 BYPY winner Jodie Cook (founder of JC Social Media), BPS Birmingham chairman Alex Bishop and BPS Birmingham Future chairman Michael Shepherd. That's a tough team to impress but Daniel did his best at the judging day in March — an experience he describes as "gruelling but really enjoyable".

Birmingham's got talent

The technology section of BYPY is intended to showcase the leading lights in the city from those individuals who "plan, design, develop, implement or manage a technology-based function in-house department, agency or private business." It covers everything from digital communications to network architecture, so there's a wide and talented pool to pick from.

And why was he picked out? We can't speak for the judges, but we'd like to think it's got something to do with his 16 years of professional experience, wide-reaching software development skills, previous work on projects with FTSE 100 companies and approachable personality, as well as his efforts supporting other business owners in the area.

It's also a recognition of how far D4 Software has come since 2012 — dedicated to building better software and helping businesses use data to drive their decision-making.

Whoever comes out on top on the 14th of May — and may the best finalist win — everyone at D4 Software is encouraged to see so many business sectors growing and thriving in Greater Birmingham.
